During a dental examination, you will receive diagnostic and preventive services from your dentist as well as all the necessary educational information.

• Examine, review and update medical history, including information on heart problems, pregnancy, diabetes, and medications, which may have an impact on your oral health.
• Clinical examination of hard and soft tissue, including cavities and missing teeth.
• Oral cancer examination and screening.
• Assessment of your gums; such as the depth of periodontal pockets, inflammation or any other sign of gum disease.
• Examine the position of your teeth, the occlusion and the chewing pattern.
• X-rays as needed. X-rays can reveal problems such as cavities under existing fillings, inpacted wisdom teeth, cavities under the marginal rim of the gums as well as bone loss caused by gum disease.
• Referral to specialists for specific treatment.
